Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 6, 2024
I respect your privacy and keep the data footprint of histopath.ai as small as possible. This policy describes what information is collected when you visit the Site, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Overview
- Histopath.ai is a static learning log. There are no user accounts, paywalls, or in-browser forms that collect personal details.
- I do not sell or rent any information.
- If you contact me directly (for example, by email), I will only use your message to respond and keep context for future conversations.
2. Information collected automatically
When you browse the Site, the hosting provider (currently Vercel) may log standard technical information such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Browser, operating system, and device type
- Referring page and requested URLs
- Timestamps and basic diagnostics (e.g., error traces)
I review this information in aggregate to understand traffic trends and troubleshoot issues. Logs are retained by the hosting provider according to their standard retention schedule.
Analytics
I may use privacy-friendly analytics (for example, Vercel Analytics or a similar tool) to understand which pages are popular and to guide future content. These tools rely on anonymised, aggregated metrics and do not set advertising cookies or build marketing profiles.
3. Information you choose to share
If you email me, comment on a linked GitHub repository, or share feedback through another channel, you control the personal information provided. I will only keep what is necessary to respond, follow up, or document agreed actions. Please avoid sending identifiable patient data or confidential information.
4. Cookies and local storage
The Site does not require cookies for core functionality. Some third-party embeds or analytics services may set their own cookies in line with their privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings without breaking the Site experience.
5. Data sharing and processors
I rely on a small number of service providers to run the Site:
- Vercel (hosting and deployment)
- GitHub (source control and, occasionally, issue discussions)
- Email provider (for direct correspondence)
These providers process data on my behalf and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments. I may disclose information if required by law, in response to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights and safety of others.
6. Data retention
- Server logs: kept by the hosting provider for their default retention period (typically up to 30 days).
- Direct communications: retained as long as necessary to manage the conversation or collaboration.
- Analytics: stored in aggregated form without personal identifiers.
If you would like specific data removed, contact me and I will do my best to accommodate the request unless retention is required by law or for legitimate security reasons.
7. International visitors
The Site is operated from Canada. By visiting from another country you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada or the United States, where servers and providers are located.
8. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy as the Site evolves. Major changes will be dated above. Continued use after revisions means you accept the updated policy.
